Bayan Lepas airport and buses to George Town
Penang International Airport is at Bayan Lepas on the south-eastern tip of the island, about 16 km south of George Town. It handled about 8.3 million passengers in 2025. Rapid Penang runs four bus routes to and from the airport, and Grab cars go to the heritage centre and the Batu Ferringhi beach hotels.
The airport is served by a wide range of airlines, including Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Batik Air Malaysia, Firefly and Scoot, which makes it easy to continue to Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi or Singapore.

One Thai ticket from Dhaka to Penang via Suvarnabhumi
Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways land at Suvarnabhumi from Dhaka (see Dhaka to Bangkok flights), and the Thai Airways flight to Penang leaves from the same airport. A single Thai ticket keeps your bag checked through. The Don Mueang flights mean crossing Bangkok and checking in again, so leave at least four hours.
