Bangkok to Mumbai flight guide
Various airlines fly nonstop from Bangkok to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) in Mumbai: Air India, IndiGo, Thai Airways International and Thai VietJet Air from Suvarnabhumi (BKK), and Thai Lion Air from Don Mueang (DMK). The 3,031 km flight takes about 4 hours 15 minutes. Business travellers, families visiting relatives, film and fashion trade and travellers heading for western India all use it.
Air India, for which Mumbai is a hub, and Thai Airways International include a checked bag and a meal. IndiGo, which has an operating base at Mumbai, Thai VietJet Air and Thai Lion Air sell the seat and charge for checked bags, meals and seat choice. On a flight of more than four hours, those extras add up, so compare the total fare.
Four of the airlines fly from Suvarnabhumi, about 25 km east of the centre on the Airport Rail Link. Thai Lion Air uses Don Mueang in the north, reached on the SRT Dark Red Line or by bus A1 from Chatuchak for 30 baht.
International flights at Mumbai use Terminal 2 at Sahar in Andheri East, which opened for international flights on 12 February 2014. The airport handled more than 55 million passengers in the 2024–25 financial year, its highest ever, so immigration queues can be long. South Mumbai is 25 to 30 km away, an hour or more in traffic; app cabs and prepaid taxis run from arrivals, and Metro Line 3 (the Aqua Line) has a station at Terminal 2.
Mumbai now has a second airport, Navi Mumbai International, across the harbour. This route is published into BOM, but check the arrival code on your ticket before anyone sets off to meet you.
Most foreign nationals need an Indian visa issued before departure, either an e-Visa or a regular visa, depending on nationality and purpose. Check the categories for your passport on the Government of India's official visa portal.
Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways land at Suvarnabhumi from Dhaka (see Dhaka to Bangkok flights), the same airport as four of the Mumbai airlines. Dhaka also has its own flights: see Dhaka to Mumbai flights.
India is 1 hour 30 minutes behind Thailand all year, as neither country changes its clocks.

General
The clock moves one hour and 30 minutes back from Thai time (Thailand is UTC+7). Neither side uses daylight saving, so the gap stays the same all year.
Yes. Fly Dhaka to Bangkok on Biman, US-Bangla or Thai Airways, all of which land at Suvarnabhumi, then take one of the Mumbai flights. Booking both legs on one Thai Airways ticket, where available, keeps you airside with your bag checked through. Two separate tickets mean clearing Thai immigration, which needs a Thai visa.
Yes, Mumbai and Dhaka are linked by air; our Mumbai to Dhaka flights page lists the airlines on the route.
What's included
It depends on the airline. IndiGo, Thai VietJet Air and Thai Lion Air are low-cost carriers whose basic fares include only a cabin bag, so add checked baggage when you book. The full-service airlines normally include a checked bag; the allowance is shown on your booking.
Visa & documents
Most foreign nationals do. Depending on nationality and purpose, that means an e-Visa or a regular visa issued before departure, and a passport valid for at least six months. Check the categories open to your passport on the Government of India's official visa portal.
Stay & facilities
On the full-service airlines, request a Muslim (halal) meal when you book or at least 24 hours before departure through the airline's manage-booking page. On IndiGo, Thai VietJet Air and Thai Lion Air, meals are bought online or on board; check the menu for halal options.
