Bangkok to Tokyo flight guide
Several airlines fly nonstop from Bangkok to Tokyo, landing at Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND). All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, Thai Airways International, Thai VietJet Air and Zipair Tokyo leave from Suvarnabhumi (BKK); Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air from Don Mueang (DMK). The 4,649 km flight takes about 6 hours 20 minutes. It is one of the main links between Japan and Southeast Asia for tourists, students and business travellers.
All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines and Thai Airways International include checked bags and meals. Zipair Tokyo, a low-cost long-haul airline based at Narita, flies from Suvarnabhumi alongside Thai VietJet Air. Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air fly from Don Mueang. The low-cost carriers sell the seat alone, with bags and meals as extras, so price the full trip.
Suvarnabhumi, about 25 km east of the centre, is on the Airport Rail Link. Don Mueang, in the north, is on the SRT Dark Red Line.
Narita opened in 1978 about 60 km east of central Tokyo, in Chiba prefecture, and handled about 42.3 million passengers in 2025. Terminal 1 is split into a North Wing for SkyTeam and a South Wing for Star Alliance; Japan Airlines and other oneworld carriers use Terminal 2; low-cost airlines use Terminal 3, which opened in 2015. The Narita Express and the Keisei Skyliner run into the city.
Haneda is much closer to central Tokyo and is linked by the Keikyu line and the Tokyo Monorail. For most central hotels, a Haneda flight means a shorter ride.
Japan's entry rules depend on your passport and change from time to time. Confirm them with a Japanese embassy or the official visa site before booking.
Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways land at Suvarnabhumi from Dhaka (see Dhaka to Bangkok flights), the airport for five of the Tokyo airlines. A Don Mueang flight needs at least four hours to transfer. Dhaka also has its own flights: see Dhaka to Tokyo flights.
Tokyo is two hours ahead of Bangkok all year.

Practical points for booking this route.
Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Don Mueang (DMK) are far apart. Low-cost flights on this route use Don Mueang, so match the airport to your hotel or connecting flight before you pay.
Thai VietJet Air, Zipair Tokyo, Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air charge for checked baggage. It is cheaper added online at booking than at the airport.

Getting there
From Suvarnabhumi, several airlines fly the route; from Don Mueang, Bangkok's low-cost airport, it is Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air. Schedules change by season, so check the flights for your dates in the search above.
About 6 hours 20 minutes in the air. The two airports are 4,649 km apart in a straight line; actual times vary a little by airline, aircraft and wind.
Both. A number of airlines use Suvarnabhumi (BKK); three use Don Mueang (DMK). The airports are on opposite sides of the city, so check the code on your ticket.
Tokyo has two airports. Narita (NRT) is about 60 km east of the city, with the Narita Express and Keisei Skyliner trains; Haneda (HND) is much closer, linked by the Keikyu line and Tokyo Monorail.
Yes, Tokyo also has its own flights from Dhaka; see Dhaka to Tokyo flights. Flying via Bangkok makes sense when you want a stopover in Thailand on the way.
Both. All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines and Thai Airways fly to both; Thai VietJet Air, Zipair Tokyo, Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air use Narita. Haneda is closer to central Tokyo.
General
The clock moves two hours forward from Thai time (Thailand is UTC+7). Neither side uses daylight saving, so the gap stays the same all year.
That depends on your passport, and the rules change from time to time. Confirm them with a Japanese embassy or the official visa site before you book.
Yes. Fly Dhaka to Bangkok on Biman, US-Bangla or Thai Airways, all of which land at Suvarnabhumi, then take one of the Tokyo flights. Booking both legs on one Thai Airways ticket, where available, keeps you airside with your bag checked through. Two separate tickets mean clearing Thai immigration, which needs a Thai visa.
The Keisei Skyliner reaches Ueno in about 45 minutes and the Narita Express runs to Tokyo station and Shinjuku. Both are faster than the bus in traffic.
What's included
It depends on the airline. Thai VietJet Air, Zipair Tokyo, Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air are low-cost carriers whose basic fares include only a cabin bag, so add checked baggage when you book. The full-service airlines normally include a checked bag; the allowance is shown on your booking.
Stay & facilities
On the full-service airlines, request a Muslim (halal) meal when you book or at least 24 hours before departure through the airline's manage-booking page. On Thai VietJet Air, Zipair Tokyo, Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air, meals are bought online or on board; check the menu for halal options.
