Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City flight guide
Multiple airlines fly nonstop from Bangkok to Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City: Thai Airways International, Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Vietravel Airlines and Thai VietJet Air from Suvarnabhumi (BKK), and Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air from Don Mueang (DMK). The 716 km flight takes about 1 hour 25 minutes. Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam's business capital and the gateway to the Mekong Delta.
Thai Airways and Vietnam Airlines include checked bags and meals. Thai VietJet Air, VietJet Air, Vietravel Airlines, Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air price the seat alone, with bags, food and seat choice as extras. With several airlines on a short route, compare the total for your luggage.
Suvarnabhumi is 27 minutes from Phaya Thai on the Airport Rail Link. For Don Mueang, the A1 bus from Mo Chit 2 via BTS Chatuchak and the A2 from Victory Monument cost 30 baht, and the SRT Red Line runs from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal.
Citizens of every country have been able to apply for a Vietnam e-visa since 15 August 2023. It covers stays of up to 90 days, single or multiple entry; the official portal, evisa.gov.vn, lists 25 US dollars for single entry and 50 for multiple. Processing takes three to five working days. Some nationalities enter visa-free, so check yours first.
Tan Son Nhat sits inside the city, about 7 km from District 1. International flights use Terminal T2. Terminal T3 opened on 19 April 2025, two months ahead of schedule, built for 20 million domestic passengers a year, and since 17 May 2025 Vietnam Airlines has run nearly all its domestic flights from it. Domestic T1 remains in use for some airlines and routes.
The terminals are separate buildings. Free shuttle buses link them every 10 to 20 minutes on average, and the trip takes about 20 minutes depending on traffic, so leave a good margin for a domestic connection to Phu Quoc or Da Lat.
Taxis, Grab and the airport bus reach District 1 in 20 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic.
Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways land at Suvarnabhumi from Dhaka (see our Dhaka to Bangkok flights page). The Thai Airways, Thai VietJet Air, VietJet Air, Vietnam Airlines and Vietravel Airlines flights leave from that same airport; the Don Mueang flights mean crossing Bangkok and checking in again, so leave at least four hours. On separate tickets, entering Thailand requires the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card.

Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Don Mueang (DMK) are far apart. Low-cost flights on this route use Don Mueang, so match the airport to your hotel or connecting flight before you pay.
Thai VietJet Air, VietJet Air, Vietravel Airlines, Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air charge for checked baggage. It is cheaper added online at booking than at the airport.
Put your dates into the search above and compare the price with baggage, seats and meals included, not just the base fare.
Entry rules for Bangladeshi passports change from time to time, so confirm them with the official Vietnam e-visa portal or the official visa site before you book.

General
There is no time difference: both run on UTC+7 all year.
Yes. Fly Dhaka to Bangkok on Biman, US-Bangla or Thai Airways, all of which land at Suvarnabhumi, then take one of the Ho Chi Minh City flights. Booking both legs on one Thai Airways ticket, where available, keeps you airside with your bag checked through. Two separate tickets mean clearing Thai immigration, which needs a Thai visa.
Free shuttle buses link the separate terminals every 10 to 20 minutes on average, and the trip takes about 20 minutes depending on traffic. International flights use T2 and most Vietnam Airlines domestic flights use T3.
What's included
It depends on the airline. Thai VietJet Air, VietJet Air, Vietravel Airlines, Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air are low-cost carriers whose basic fares include only a cabin bag, so add checked baggage when you book. The full-service airlines normally include a checked bag; the allowance is shown on your booking.
Visa & documents
Citizens of all countries can apply for a Vietnam e-visa on evisa.gov.vn, valid up to 90 days; the portal lists 25 US dollars for single entry and 50 for multiple. Processing takes three to five working days, and some nationalities enter visa-free.
Stay & facilities
On the full-service airlines, request a Muslim (halal) meal when you book or at least 24 hours before departure through the airline's manage-booking page. On Thai VietJet Air, VietJet Air, Vietravel Airlines, Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air, meals are bought online or on board; check the menu for halal options.
